Dr. Chioma Okafor-Mbah

Dr. Chioma Okafor-Mbah, MD, Dipl. ABOM is a double board-certified U.S. physician in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine with nearly 20 years of clinical experience across primary care, urgent care, and specialized metabolic health. Throughout her career, she has practiced in diverse healthcare settings, giving her a comprehensive understanding of clinical workflows, longitudinal patient care, and population health management with extensive hands-on experience with multiple electronic medical record (EMR) platforms. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Okafor-Mbah is an experienced speaker and medical advisor known for her ability to translate complex medical and operational concepts into practical, actionable guidance.
Dr. Okafor-Mbah completed her Family Medicine residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine, the largest U.S. medical school, known for its rigorous graduate medical education and broad, high-volume clinical training across a statewide academic health system. Her residency training spanned multiple tertiary, safety-net, and community hospitals, providing exposure to diverse patient populations, complex medical conditions, and multidisciplinary care teams across urban and community settings — grounding her deep appreciation for high-functioning clinical operations and digital health workflows. During her final year of training, she was elected by her peers to serve as Chief Resident, a role that reflected both her clinical excellence and leadership abilities. In this capacity, she worked closely with faculty and hospital administration, supported resident education and workflow coordination, and gained early insight into clinical operations, documentation practices, and system-level decision-making.
